Duane Simpkins is now in his 5th season as a high school Head Coach and in his 3rd season as the Head Coach at the St. Albans School in Washington, DC. He spent two seasons at Sidwell Friends School where his team captured the schools first ever Mid-Atlantic Conference title, going 15-0 in conference play. Coach Simpkins is a 4-time AAU All American. Coach Simpkins played for two Hall of Fame coaches in Morgan Wooten (DeMatha Catholic High School) and Gary Williams (University of Maryland).
He was the first guard to make DeMatha High School’s Varsity team as a freshman. He was a 3-year captain, 2-time Parade Magazine All American, 2-time Washington Post All-Met Player, 2-time D.C. City Title Winner, P.G. County Player of the Year, D.C. City Title MVP, McDonald’s High School All-American and helped guide his team to a 32-0 record, with a #5 ranking in the USA Today National Top 20. He is a 4-Year Letterman and Graduate of the University of Maryland. Coach Simpkins enjoyed a professional basketball career in Italy, France, Belgium, and China, before returning home. Coach Simpkins has organized camps, clinics, and personal training events for the last 11 years. Some of coach’s former athletes (both men and women) have been fortunate to earn college scholarships to Georgetown, Richmond, Virginia Tech, Manhattan, Niagara, Loyola, Quinnipiac, North Carolina, and Maryland University.
